INVOLVED EXPERTS

Palm Island Floating Pontoon

Premise was engaged to provide an all-weather facility allowing people to safely embark and disembark from the ferry at Palm Island. The ferry is a major method of transport and allows the elderly, children, and people with disabilities to access the mainland and the services provided there.

Premise was commissioned to administer and supervise the contract to construct a pontoon at the Palm Island jetty. This role involved the preparation of contract documents, and the supervision and administration of contracts. Funding was received from all levels of Government, along with a private contribution, which was managed by Premise.

Approvals from both the State Government and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority were required before work could start on-site. In addition, the change in ownership of the jetty from the State Government to Council required extra approvals, and excellent stakeholder management on Premise’s behalf.
