About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, as an Accountant you are responsible for overseeing Accounts Payable and Payroll, managing the transactional team [currently a team consisting of 2 employees], undertaking accountant tasks, performing monthly reconciliations, execution of month-end tasks and management of all payroll related compliance.

Key Responsibility
  • Manage the AP and Payroll transactional team and providing support to them where required.
  • Supervision and review of Payroll in accordance with the group payroll cycle and associated administration functions. This includes reconciling Long Service Leave to ensure compliance with specific state legislation.
  • Preparation and submission of all year-end payroll compliance activities
  • Responsible for the full payroll related, statutory compliance activities including Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation and Superannuation, ensuring documentation and maintenance of records as required.
  • Cross system reconciliations, supporting the finance team in the accurate recording of financial information between the Accounting and Business Practice systems.
  • Responsible for managing the full month-end accounting for the ‘Turbid’ business unit.
  • General bookkeeping duties
  • Any other reasonable requirements as requested by the Finance Manager.
Required Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Previous experience processing payroll & exposure to payroll compliance.
  • Previous experience supervising or leading a team.
  • Advanced ability to use MS office, specifically MS Excel and financial software packages.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to organise and manage competing priorities, while meeting deadline.
  • Ability to work independently where required, while also reporting to and working at the direction of the Finance Manager to achieve the financial obligations of the Group.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability and confidence to engage and influence key stakeholders.
  • A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • An eye for accuracy and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet monthly/annually reporting and compliance deadlines
  • Xero (highly regarded).
