An opportunity has become available for a full-time Senior Survey Technician to join our team based in our Orange office. The purpose of this role is to work effectively within the team to execute Surveying services that exceed client expectations for a quality and professional project that is delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibility
  • Undertake and assist Surveyors in all types of surveys including but not limited to cadastral (under supervision), engineering and construction surveys.
  • Offer advice on the outcome of these surveys after examining all options.
  • Preliminary survey search, project setup including data input, upload instruments, surveyor calculations and reductions using software packages available.
  • From time to time assist in the preparation of drafting survey plans and sketches using the available CAD packages.
  • Check and finalise plans, survey reports and arrange for signing and disposal by Registered Surveyor.
  • Perform survey fieldwork.
  • Maintenance of survey equipment and vehicles including annual calibration of instruments.
  • Additional ad hoc support to the survey team.
  • Any other reasonable requirements of the General Manager.
Required Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of surveying techniques for various types of surveys and the accuracies required to achieve a successful outcome.
  • An understanding of the Surveying and Spatial Information Act (2002), Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2017.
  • Knowledge of planning legislation in relation to development and subdivision, and knowledge of the rights of the landowner in these areas.
  • Desire to continue professional development in further surveying related courses.
  • Reliable, dependable, self-motivated and hard working.
  • Ability to work autonomously as required and in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Possesses personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate vision, mission and foundations.
  • Ability to use modern surveying equipment including total station theodolites and the utilisation of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).
  • An understanding in data recording techniques and in using computer aided drafting (CAD) systems for survey calculations to produce plans.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Survey (or equivalent/similar discipline) – Diploma or higher.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of CAD packages (Magnet Office/12D/AutoCAD preference).
